Archipelago Kitchen

Archipelago Kitchen is a toolshed for community food making, converted from fast-food restaurants located in Mayflower Shopping Mall, Shanghai. In a fast-paced urban life where food delivery has become standard, this shared kitchen seeks to reintroduce the culture of ‘borrowing soy sauce from neighbour’ to a new life.

It consists of a library for cookware, dishware, seasoning; cooking stations; and street-facing share ingredients platform. By converting revolving doors into counters and shelves, it enables flexible kitchen configurations, and mutual access of tools by both users/staff, interior/exterior. Here, standalone island kitchens in atomized urban homes bond into Archipelago for the community.
