Nearly three decades has past since the book’s first publication in 1993. Today, for the increasingly mobile new generation, even the tactics in Tokyo Style seems a luxury – effort required for moving and storage of personal belongings between leases could be intimidating. For people constantly ‘in transition’, borrowing home became an easy compromise.

Singular Room is an overview of such borrowed space options. They are pre-furnished storage cells, ready-made quick lodgings, second-hand habitats where the definition of home is preset by someone else.
